Vampyres

My feelings for vampyres/vampires or sparkly idiots has been noted by many. Of all the many mystical beings they are my least favourite just after Zombies (do not let me get started on those useless bags of meat).I've never understood the mystery and attraction of beings that are old, cold and have old world views on how the world should be run (aka women know your place kind of thing) And most of all are never going to be able to take you for a walk along the Copacabana during the daytime that is. A full moon stroll is going to be a possibility.... If you research even a small part of the legends it should be impossible for them to groom themselves and they have a hard time crossing oceans... all of these things are all forgotton in the new romatic views on these creepy crawlies.

Yes Buffy proved that Vampires can be considered hot, Brad Pitt was a goodlooking bloodsucker and Eric Nordmann is interesting to look at (understatement I know), however I still do not find the idea attractive. If I ever would have the choice that so many 'heroines' of modern novels face I would never ever make their choices. It seems illogical and impractical. Why if you have the choice between a warm blooded 24x7 available wild beast would you go for the ancient guy who is only available at night and very very vulnerable during the day. Sure if you analyse these so called novels it seems to be about being civilised, in Hamiltons novels Anita Blake chooses the vampire after the werewolf changed into his beastly self on top of her.. he did so by drenching Anita in liquid that was left over after a change, which makes more sense than the Stephanie Meyers version. Still I think I would prefer the sliminess above the political bullshit that the vampires dish out in these novels. And again I come across a point in modern books that I do not understand. Why do most of these books assume that the vampire is superior to the werecreature. Sure Hamilton explains it away by saying that it is because the vampire has an animal to call, but this would mean that the vampire at some point conquered the werewolf. And if you just compare the amount of tricks that a clever human can use against a vampire it stands to reason that a werewolf who has superior strength, reflexes, regenerative abilities and senses should be able to overpower a vampire easily simply by locating its nest and opening the windows during the day. Seriously, I have issues here and I know it. I just dislike the level of worship piled on top such a nondeserving mythilogical creature. It is better to find a more deserving subject.
